Last week while getting a few groceries I stopped at one of the little food tasting stations. The featured item was Cranberry Salsa. The rest, as they say, is history. It was an immediate addiction. I LOVED that stuff!
I immediately began gathering up all the ingredients and couldn't wait to get home to make some. I was hoping Lance would like it as much as I did, because otherwise, I would have eaten it all. Yes. I admit it. I would have eaten the entire bowl of it. But that didn't happen because he did like it. We are both looking forward to the next batch, which will be served during Hanukkah (bli neder/no promise).
If you like cranberries and cilantro you will not regret trying this tasty treat! Yum Yum!!! Enjoy!

Cranberry Salsa
Ingredients needed:
1 bag fresh cranberries
1 bunch cilantro (leaves only)
1 bunch green onions (green part only)
1 jalepeno pepper (seeded)
1 large lime (juiced)
1 cup sugar
Instructions:
1. Wash cranberries.
2. Wash cilantro and green onions.
3. Cut open jalepeno pepper and take out the seeds. NOTE: Wear gloves when handling fresh peppers!
4. Juice the lime.
5. Cut white part off the green onions.
6. Chop the onions.
7. Cut stems off cilantro.
8. Put the cranberries and lime juice in blender or food process. Chop until the consistency of chunky type salsa. (Note, if the lime is not big enough to make enough juice and you need more liquid add small amount of water.)
9. Add sugar and blend together. 10. Then add other ingredients and continue chopping.
11. Serve with cream cheese and crackers. (Can be served as a side dish without the cream cheese and crackers.)

Trying My New Camera
Yesterday I finally got a new camera. I have been using the $100 camera (including the card) that I bought about three years ago almost non-stop. I love taking pictures! Someday I hope to get a nice camera with various lenses and be able to take really nice pictures. But for now, I will stick with the little point and shoot style. My new camera is a Nikon Coolpix, with 16 megapixels and 10xzoom. It was on sale at Target for $200 - no memory card. It is red. And so far I like it - although I have not really leaned about any of the features yet.
Today I decided to take some pictures of my daily activities just to see how good the pictures turn out. So, come along with me as I review my day. I have to warn you it's pretty boring. But I do enjoy my life, and am thankful for all the many blessings.
I took some video of the girls yesterday, but have yet to understand how to put them on the computer. Hopefully tomorrow.
Until next time...

Lance took a vacation day today so we had breakfast together. I always enjoy when we have the opportunity to do that.
After we ate we went to the gym to walk on the treadmills. We have started trying to do that several times each week.
The next stop for me was the post office.
Since I had not been to get the mail in about a week there was quite a big stack to go through. I was so excited to see that I got my package from Ebay.
Of course I couldn't wait to get home to open my package. My tiny little pink plastic dolls! There were cowboys, clowns, ballerinas, and lots of others.
A couple of weeks ago I saw a box of pink ballerinas on Pinterest. They looked so cute, and I could tell they looked "vintage" - I was thinking late 50s or early 60s. I started looking for them on Ebay, and sure enough, found a package of a variety. I got the entire bunch for $2.99 and shipping was only $2.50. And I LOVE them!
On the way home from the Post Office I stopped to get Lance some hot chocolate. Just a little surprise for him. And it turned out I got a little something myself. They had a special deal: buy one get one free. I really like free!
Lance was busy at his desk working on Temple Institute business when I got home with the hot chocolate.
He wanted to try out my new camera so took this picture of me.
I got the mail out of the house mailbox. We never get anything at the house except junk mail. Everything pertaining to our business goes to the Post Office. I was surprised to find this little birthday coupon in the box. How did this place get the information that it was my birthday, and how did they know our house address? I have never been to that place. But I will probably go and use the coupon. I suppose their plan worked.
We decided to look at some pictures. I had several boxes of them out sorting through them last weekend and had not put them away. We laughed and laughed, remembering all the fun times we have with our grand kids. We also noticed how they are growing up waaaaaay to quickly.
I decided to run some errands so Lance could get back to his work. I decided to go in his car so I could schlep more stuff.
My first stop was Sam's Club. That place takes a long time to go through, and I did find lots of goodies.
I felt like some kind of pioneer loading the wagon after going into town to the general store to stock up for the winter. Come to think of it, that is what I was doing.
I found a little treasure that I just couldn't resist. Rebecca of the American Girl series - in tiny form with the set of books. It was a little pricey, but much more affordable than the larger size one. I just love her little boots!
Next stop: World Market. I have been looking (and looking and looking) for some baskets for my closet. I know what I want, but have not been able to find them anywhere yet. And, I didn't find them there either. Unbelievably, I didn't buy anything in there - even though I had a $10 off coupon.
I moved on to Target - which was just next door. Again, no luck with finding the baskets I want. But I did get some shelves and plastic storage bins for the garage.
I have my work cut out for me now that I have the storage supplies.
As usual, my foot was causing me so much pain by the time I got home. I had to put up my feet to rest.
So I decided to have a small snack. I bought some beautiful avocados at Sam's, so thought that would be a nice little pick me up snack.
Lance was watching a show that was really interesting. It was about flappers, moonshiners, and bootleggers. I learned that Nascar actually started during that time era because the rum runners had such fast cars. Who would have guessed?
After I rested for a while I had to run a couple of more errands, and thought I would end this photo test with these beautiful flowers. I think the camera will do just fine. I need to read the manual and try some other pictures.

Testing Testing One Two Three
After having taken an extended break from my blogging hobby I have decided to come back to word world. I enjoy putting together blog posts, sharing pictures, and just "rambling" about my life.
I am waiting to see just how long it will take for the IP addresses of S.E. and B.P. to pop up on my track meter.
And for the record, S.E., any and all comments will continue to be hidden from other readers and I will not open the spam trash file where they all go, so I will never see them either.
Even though I can't understand why either of you or your family members have any interest in my life and activities, I will be posting as I did in the past. So, enjoy my life.

Did You Hear...?
The L-d G-d then formed the man [from] the dust of the ground, and He blew into his nostrils the breath of life. And so man became nefesh chayah. (Genesis 2:7 from Torah)
Nefesh chayah is translated from Hebrew into English as "the spirit of speech." According to this, the ability to speak is the result of the merger of the physical and the spiritual within man. Man alone among creation is endowed with this ability, a result of having a soul.
Kaballah, in the Zohar, explains that the misuse of words -- lashon hara, "evil speech" -- is the same sin that the serpent was guilty of in the Garden of Eden and is just as serious when we do it. That’s something to think about!
Genesis 1:27 says, “G-d created man in his own image, in the image of G-d created He him.” So to speak about another person in a negative manner is tantamount to rejecting the image of G-d in that person.
Our speech has more power than we realize. The harm done by negative speech is even worse than the harm done by stealing or by cheating someone financially: money lost can be repaid, but the harm done by speech can never be repaired. Speech can be compared to an arrow: once our words are released, like an arrow, they cannot be recalled, the harm they do cannot be stopped, and the harm they do cannot always be predicted, for words like arrows often go astray.
Lashon Hara/Evil Speech/Gossip/Disparaging Speech means saying anything about another person, even it is true, even if it is not negative, even if it hurts no one, even if the person himself would tell the same thing if asked.
We are not to even imply or suggest negative things about a person - even in jest We simply are not to spend our time speaking about people when they are not present.
The person who listens to gossip is even worse than the person who tells it, because no harm could be done by gossip if no one listened to it. It has been said that lashon hara kills three: the person who speaks it, the person who hears it, and the person about whom it is told.
All things are considered to be secret unless a person specifically says otherwise.
Lashon hara is equal in seriousness to murder, idol worship, incest, and adultery.
It is generally acceptable to repeat things that have been told in the presence of three persons because if it is told in the presence of three persons, it is already public knowledge, and no harm can come from retelling it. However, even in this case, we should not repeat it if we know we will be spreading the gossip further.
A person is also required to reveal information to protect a person from immediate, serious harm. For example, if a person hears that others are plotting to kill someone, he is required to reveal this information.
In limited circumstances, one is also permitted to reveal information if someone is entering into a relationship that he would not enter if he knew certain information. For example, it may be permissible to tell a person that his prospective business partner is untrustworthy, or that a prospective spouse has a disease.
Leviticus 25:17 in the Torah says, "You shall not wrong one another." This has traditionally been interpreted as wronging a person with speech. It includes any statement that will embarrass, insult or deceive a person, or cause a person emotional pain or distress.
Proverbs 16:24 in the Tanach tells us, “Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones. “
James 3:10 in the Christian Bible states, “Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.”
All my life I have heard, “Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words will never hurt me.” This simply is not true. Words do hurt people. Sometimes more than even sticks and stones do!
My Mother always told us girls, “If you can’t say something nice, then don’t say anything at all.” That is pretty good advice. I am going to work on following it.

How to Clean the Bathtub Toys
I've just posted a new blog entry on my private family blog if you want to go to it to see what we've been up to. If you don't have the details of how to get to it yet, just let me know. I'll email you privately. I have posted a household tip here for those of you with kids and grandkids.
**************************************
This post isn't about cooking, but I wanted to share a household tip. I hope you find it helpful.
Our grandchildren love to play with bathtub toys in the bubble bath when they are having a sleepover at our house. And since I don't like the idea of the toys not being clean when they have them floating around in the water with them I came up with a great idea for cleaning them - every time they play with them.
After bathtime, I dran the tub - leaving the toys in the tub.
Then I gather up the towels, washcloths, AND BATHTUB TOYS and toss them all into the washing machine together.
After the machine stops the toys are clinging to the wet towels, after having gone through the spin cycle.
I then pull out all the towels and washcloths, shaking the toys into the bottom or the machine and toss the the towels and washcloths into the dryer.
I then gather the toys up, put them into a little basket so they can air dry, and they are ready for the next bathtime!
It's so easy to keep the bathtub toys clean. No gunk here!
